![]() I'm assuming the tracks didn't take advantage of the CD capabilities of the time and store the tracks as. Idk what happened with the PC Engine version because it probably has the worst sound quality (as far as music goes) out of all the ports. The PC Engine port seemed to piggybacked off of the PC88 version and have the same arrangement for most tracks.aside from additional tracks like Junker HQ. The Sega CD and PC Engine are also worlds apart in comparison. Dialogue is presented in the old style fashion of "beep beep beep beep" to emulate the idea of talking. The PC88 version has some great tracks but usually sounds a bit too clean and empty.though some tracks such as Decadent Beat are absolutely perfect and I think the best version out of all the ports. The MSX version has a very gritty and grungy sound to it that fits the bleak cyberpunk world well and just about every track conveys the message that the developers were looking for. I'm totally not familiar with MSX and it's crazy world or sound cartridges and what not.though I believe that Snatcher and SD Snatcher used a special sound cartridge called the SCC+ to give it better sound quality.and It most certainly stands out too and is for sure one of the main highlights of the game. The MSX and Pc88 versions are actually very different here. There's also different designed backgrounds and borders instead of the usual black. Everything also looks like it was run through some sort of filter and looks almost blurry. Most of the art has been redone and/or has had CG added to it. The PS1 and Saturn version is by far the ugliest version.they added some very low quality CG scenes to the intro that is a sort of retelling of the short Manga that came in the instruction manual of the PC Engine and Sega CD version of the game. We also now have animated portraits for when our main characters are talking as opposed to just text. Being on newer hardware we also have the addition of more intricate animations.though few and far between, but what's there really adds to the experience. You now have a larger picture that is front and center, the rest is still a black border, but now when it's time to interact, you have options at the bottom of the screen. The Sega CD and PC Engine versions share near identical visuals, which is updated art from the originals and is absolutely gorgeous. Having come out in 1988, the pixel art here is one of the big things that made it stand out from other games of the time. Dialogue is displayed at the bottom in text. The rest is filled in by a black border and your options for interaction line the right side of the screen. You do have a limited view in comparison to future versions with the main art being relegated towards the upper left of the screen. The original MSX and PC88 versions have some beautiful standout pixel art that still looks great today.
